Pet Lovers (and Their Pets) Are Always Welcome at The Kensington

It’s really tough to find luxury apartments in downtown Boston that let you keep pets. So pet owners had reason to rejoice when The Kensington opened its doors in spring 2013.

Our pet-friendly community welcomes dogs, cats, birds and other selected animals.* But it’s the dogs, in particular, who really enjoy the high life here.

The Kensington has a pet spa featuring a groom room with an elevated dog bath. Bring in your pup for a wash and some extended personal attention. It’s a lot better than making a wet mess in your own bathroom!

When it’s time to head outside, you can choose from some great options for a little exercise. The nearest and most obvious destination is Boston Common. Located just one city block away, this large open space has plenty of room for your pooch to roam. For now, be sure to keep him or her on a leash. But coming soon, the City of Boston plans to designate selected off-leash areas in the Common.

Peters Park Dog Run in the South End is a bit of longer walk, but well worth it. According to its website, the park “has over 13,000 square feet of space (including a separately enclosed 3,000 square feet [space] for small dogs).” A nice place for you — and your dog — to make friends.

If your dog is up for a long walk, head to the sprawling Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, which winds from Chinatown up to the North End, or the Harborwalk, which offers spectacular views of the city and Boston Harbor.

Need a little time away from your favorite dog? Several local businesses — e.g. Kats N Dogs, Ione Dog Walker — offer services like pet sitting and dog walking (not to mention cat care).

Whether you’re staying inside or out exploring the city, every day is a great day for dogs at The Kensington.
