The Kensington’s Favorite Local Businesses: Winston Flowers
Who doesn’t love finding moments of quiet beauty in our world? Ending a long day with a glimpse of our spectacular view of the Boston skyline at dusk, for example. Or taking a morning detour through the Public Garden before a day of meetings.
For that reason, and so many others we’re happy to share with you, we’ve come to love the folks at Winston Flowers, who have built a thriving business on the mission of making the world more beautiful.
The family business was born in 1944, when Henry Winston and his teenage son Maynard began selling blooms from a pushcart. From the very start, they were committed to products of the highest quality and service with a personal touch. (Even long after the business expanded, Henry insisted on making deliveries himself.) Since then, the business has continued to grow and thrive and earn accolades from across the country.
Winston Flowers now has two Boston locations and five more elsewhere. The stores offer gorgeous gift baskets and treats like the Bouquet-of-the-Month Club, so you can share a gift with someone and they’ll get to enjoy it again and again. And although they are the go-to business for elaborate events — and have arranged flowers for heads of state, including U.S. presidents and the Queen of England herself — they treat every customer like an old friend. You can step in off the street for a pretty little posy, and they’ll still make you feel like royalty.
We’re so grateful to have two Winston Flowers nearby — just peering in the window will make you smile. Whether it’s a very special occasion or a dreary day that deserves a little boost, Winston never disappoints.
Next time you want to treat someone and enjoy terrific service, drop by Winston Flowers for something special. The Boston locations are in the Financial District (176 Federal Street, 800-457-4901) and the Back Bay (131 Newbury Street, 800-457-4901).
