Giving Back at The Kensington
At The Kensington, we make everything easy – even being charitable! We proudly ended 2014, and kicked off 2015, in the giving spirit by supporting community organizations through numerous on and offsite charitable events.
“At The Kensington, cultivating an environment of engagement and community is a high priority, not only for our residents, but also our neighbors,” commented Drew Boujoulian, Resident Services Manager at The Kensington. “We love finding ways for our staff and residents to get involved in the community.”
Last year we tackled small and large projects, and all with a dose of passion and creativity. Donations of classroom supplies, clothing, food and adopting holiday wish lists helped local groups such as the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families Foundation (DCF), the Greater Boston Food Bank, and The Blackstone Innovation School. We also participated in a Charles River clean up along the Esplanade as part of an annual Earth Day Event.
The Kensington cherishes its strong relationship with the nearby Saint Francis House, the largest day-shelter in New England. Residents and staff of The Kensington took pleasure in serving hot Thanksgiving meals to shelter guests. We took that spirit into December by hosting a Holiday Party, featuring artwork created through the Saint Francis House Art Therapy Program. Multiple pieces were on display and for sale, with all proceeds going back to the respective artists. This relationship will be further strengthened in 2015 as the Saint Francis House has dubbed March as “Kensington Month”, with numerous opportunities to engage residents at the community.
We aim to make 2015 a year where our community relationships are strengthened, and our charitable engagements are numerous! Join us!
