Red Sox Opening Day: Bars with the Best Game Day Grub
The arrival of spring means many things to us Bostonians: putting away the scarves and gloves in exchange for some warmer weather (hopefully) and getting ready for America’s pastime, baseball. This year’s Red Sox Home Opener is April 13th versus the Nationals. The Kensington is surrounded by several options for watching the game on the big day, and we’ve selected the ones with the best game day grub we think you should check out.
Strike 1: Sidebar 617.357.1899
14 Bromfield Street, Boston MA
Sidebar is a short, 8-minute walk from our door, and we couldn’t think of a better dive bar in Boston to catch the game at. Here’s the deal: wings, wings, and more wings. From buffalo all the way to garlic & parmesan, Sidebar has a superlative selection of chicken wing flavors. Plus, $7 Bud Light pitchers!
Strike 2: Champion’s Sports Bar & Restaurant 617.927.5304
110 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA
Located at the Marriott Copley Place, Champion’s is a 10-minute T-ride from The Kensington. The award-winning clam chowder is a can’t-miss, and the thirty-six draft beers to choose from matches the 36 HDTV video wall. You won’t miss a moment of the game’s action here, as any seat offers an unrivaled view.
Strike 3: McGreevy’s 617.262.0911
911 Boylston Street, Boston MA
McGreevy’s is a bit of a longer walk or just a couple stops on the Green Line. We’re pretty sure our love for this spot is easily understood, and if anyone is excited for baseball season, its McGreevy’s, the namesake of America’s first sports bar. Don’t miss out on the cheddar stuffed pub pretzel and a large selection of both beers and cocktails.
