Wednesday Evening BBQs on Georges Island
Getting past hump day in the summer can prove to be quite challenging as summer skies and temps beckon for us to be outside. A short ferry ride to Georges Island may be just the trick to help you finish out your work week – Wednesday evenings are all about delicious BBQ!
Georges Island is home to historic Fort Warren, a Civil war era fort known for its granite archways and reputed ghost – the Lady in Black! This 39-acre island grows to 53 acres at low tide and is located in the center of the harbor allowing for exceptional views of surrounding islands.
Special Wednesday Evening “After Hours” BBQs are catered by Rita’s Catering. Meet your friends, grab your co-workers or your significant other and join in on the fun. Enjoy a hearty meal with stunning sunset views, and play some backyard lawn games
Cost is $65 per person – includes Barbecue and Cruise [there is also a Vegetarian Entrée] A Children’s Cookout is priced at $36 per person. Menu items can include Spice Rubbed Barbeque Chicken, 1⁄4 Pound All-Beef Hamburgers or Vegetarian Burgers, All-Beef Hot Dogs, BBQ baked beans, Garden Salad, Watermelon, Assorted chips, and fire toasted s’mores on the beach fire pit.
Catch the ferry from Long Wharf at 6:30PM and turn around on the 9PM ferry. The next BBQ is July 8th – sign up today. Advance registration (online or phone) is required.
