You’ll Never Have More Fun at the Theater Than With “Shear Madness: A Comedy Whodunit”

Shear Madness at the Charles Playhouse has been delighting audiences for 38 years, and tells the hilarious tale of a murder at a hairstyling salon with the audience spotting the clues, questioning the subjects, and solving the crime. The show is a unique blend of wacky improvisation and mystery with local references and up-to-the-minute jokes. Eventually, the crowd is invited to vote on who they think committed the murder, with the results then dramatized. The outcome is never the same, which is why many audience members return again and again. The talented ensemble creates a fun, giddy atmosphere and fuels the enthusiasm of the crowd.

Voted “Best Comedy of the Year” seven times by the Boston Globe and recipient of the title “Best Play of the Year” by both the Chicago Sun-Times and the Philadelphia Enquirer, Shear Madness is one of the longest running and most popular plays. Tickets are $56 per person and can be purchased online or by calling the box office. Shows are held Tuesday through Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
